Hellenic Armed Forces Contribution Concerning the Refugee Flows Management Crisis

The Hellenic Armed Forces, in compliance with MOD orders, since August 2015 is providing assistance to public authorities, responsible for the increased refugee flows crisis management, as follows:

a. Hellenic Navy and Air Force assets participate in search and rescue operations and refugees transportation from East Aegean Islands to the mainland.
b. Staffing of the Migration Central Coordination Body by military personnel on a daily basis.
c. Grant of three Hellenic Army Camps for use as First Reception Centers (Hotspots) in Lesvos, Leros and Kos islands.
d. Military personnel assist the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction in First Reception Centers services.
e. Provision of meals and services to refugees during their stay in the First Reception Centers on a daily basis.
f.  Hellenic Army provided technical means and personnel for the Hotspots construction in Lesvos, Samos, Leros, Kos and Chios islands as well as the Refugee Accommodation Centers in Athens.
g. Fuel supply to First Reception Centers vehicles.

The Hellenic Armed Forces conscious of their humanitarian mission will continue to provide assistance concerning the refugee flows crisis by making the optimal use of their available resources.
